Bio:
Matteo is a biogeochemist specializing in the marine cycles of carbon, nitrogen, and sulphur, with a particular focus on greenhouse gas dynamics and ocean-atmosphere exchange in the northern Mediterranean (Gulf of Trieste – northern Adriatic) and the western Arctic Ocean. He contributed to the discovery of a cold seep system in the glacial depression of the Kveithola Trough (northwestern Barents Sea). Since 2023, Matteo has served as Principal Investigator of the MEFISTO project (NRRP PRIN 2022), which investigates the actual contribution of coastal marine environments to the atmospheric methane budget.
